Since the start of my career in 2010, I’ve been a part of passionate teams involved in inspiring projects around the world. I look forward to continuing this journey alongside all of you for years to come.
CONSTELLATION SYSTEM
@ MEYER SOUND
Constellation is a flexible acoustic system that offers the opportunity to change the acoustics of a room with the push of a button. This is an elegant solution to turning single purpose spaces into muti-purpose venues! Below are a handful of projects I have had the honor to be involved in while working as an Acoustic Engineer within the Constellation team at Meyer Sound:
Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO)
The new Jakarta International Theatre at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) is the largest venue in the Asia Pacific region to be installed with a Meyer Sound Constellation system. Carried out by Kairos Multi Jaya, it is also one of the largest Constellation installations to date worldwide.
Porches Studio 9
The Studio at Building 9 is a revolution in style, sound, and sustainability. Its contemporary look and cozy intimacy enhance any occasion. The soft, wood interior offers spectacular acoustics ideal for creating music. Using single button menu settings, Constellation provides appropriate acoustic settings ranging from buffet breakfast, to recording studio, to live ensembles!
The Argyros Performing Arts Center
“Constellation has changed the way I think about audio,” Samuel Mollner, technical director for the center relates, “because we can adapt the acoustical environment to suit the performer. For example, we had a group in here doing 12th century Gregorian chants, and we could create the environment for which the chants were composed. For the Sun Valley Music Festival last winter we had six different acoustic environments in one evening, including a contemporary piece originally composed to be performed inside a concrete grain silo. We programmed a special Constellation preset for that one.”
–Samuel Mollner, technical director for The Argyros PAC
The base Constellation system at Argyros Performing Arts Center comprises 58 full-range compact loudspeakers. An additional 12 loudspeakers serve a dual role for Constellation as well as for surrounds in cinema mode. At the heart of the system are the 12 modules of the D-Mitri digital audio platform, including three modules dedicated to hosting the patented VRAS acoustical algorithms — one for each of the three acoustical zones.
Duke Ellington School of the Arts
With the acoustical flexibility afforded by Constellation, the auditorium’s acoustic signature can be precisely tailored to the performance at hand while the active stage shell component of Constellation allows student performers the opportunity to hear themselves and others in the ensemble in an optimum environment. Audience members are often not aware that the Constellation system is even active during many acoustic performances, yet the rich acoustical ambience has generated more enthusiastic responses while raising the engagement level of student performers.
SOUND DESIGN
MINOTAUR – FILM
I am excited to share my first project as a sound designer, Minotaur, from the National Film Board Canada. It was an honor to work alongside great friends and talented artists Jan Pienkowski and Kid Koala. Minotaur is a short 3D animation by Munro Ferguson that follows a mythical creature through the seven stages of the classic archetypal path: birth, childhood, mission, labyrinth, monster, battle and death/rebirth. Through beautiful, abstract, moving images, the corresponding emotional states are conveyed: calm, love, joy, surprise, fear, anger/hate, and death/rebirth leading again to calm. The cycles continue until the stars burn out and there is nothing left.
